Hello Linda, just thought you would like to have this picture, this is AJ and Bobby, two dogs I rescued from your kennels back in 1989, AJ came first and he was absolutely wild, but so affectionate,he used to keep hold of my sleeve all the time. He had a stroke at the age of about 15 I think, and eventually I had to have him put to sleep. Bobby was nicknamed Bobby No Brains, I got him about a year after AJ to keep him company while I was at work. He was cross eyed. I remember saying to the staff at the kennels just bring me the worst of all the dogs and I will take him home and make him better. He was very ill and he nearly died but luckily went on to live a very happy and healthy life. They always got on so well together, and we had some great adventures. They were my first two dogs as an adult and I was so proud to have them. I always wanted to work at your place but when I was younger I didnt dare ask anyone if I could help out, so I just took the dogs home and looked after them for the rest of their lives. I found this photo on my PC, brought tears to my eyes, such a blast from the past, but brought back many happy memories. I hope I am your longest serving customer, little Holly will carry on where I have to leave off. x | |

| Hello, Just dropping you a quick line to let you know that Archie has settled in fine at his new home! You may recall that I brought him to you as a thin, confused, stray greyhound on December 1st 2007 and on learning that he had not been claimed, 9 days later I returned to collect and re-home him. He's settled in really well at his new home, he is so loving, affectionate, happy and content. He gets on really well with family members, visitors and has taken to the cat, so much so that they curl up together on his bedding! Archie eats well, loves going out for his walks, regularly accompanying on my training runs and as is often the case with greyhounds loves nothing more than snoozing, infact it's quite entertaining to sit and watch him when he is in dreamland! Regards, Paul & Archie
After having taken in a stray greyhound (Archie) in early December 2007 and subsequently re-homing him via The Stray Action For Dogs Scheme here at Deerness Kennels, Langley Moor, Paul and Archie decided to raise funds for the scheme, taking part in a recent charity event.
Archie was top dog on the morning of Saturday 9th February, he successfully accompanied Paul on The Durham 5km (3.1 mile) Charity Run, completing the Maiden Castle course in a time of 23:46
An overwhelming response of generosity from family, friends and colleagues helped to raise a massive grand total sum of £415 in sponsorship, a donation that Deerness Kennels were delighted to accept and will go towards vet fees for stray/rescue dogs. Many thanks to Paul, Archie and all who kindly donated.
